Point of Focus

When taking on a broad view it is often hard to pin a point of focus, which often times can lead to various focus points to steer in direction. Taking on a social issues such as mental illness takes on this challenge in how information can be presented to the network. As a with any point of focus there are multiple views and a point in which they all link. The popcyle linking creates this image in which shows a distinct path in which in the gaps there lies a new perspective. In taking this view, the issue of mental illness creates a popcylce linking of individual thoughts and observations. A current stigma in today’s network connection, mental illness remains a point of multipath linkage. The discourse and presentation of this matter presents a central point. It is the weaving of all these points that ultimately projects this complete image. This weaving becomes a matter of action of creating the writing and inspiring the path. It becomes a means of relaying thought and feeling while also grasping the link which is then also relayed. “ The point of this assignment is to find the point of conduction”. This line can be applied in many different manners. Essentially though it become a goal to find the clarity of these weaving paths. The end image presents promotes this linking point. In taking my central focus of mental illness, the broader image branches the idea of social stigma and the connection with those who have had these perspectives associated with them. The ability lies in the individuals hand to create this mood of thought and transfer the message filling in the gaps. Laying for the information and collecting new insights creates this new image and draws on a point of intersecting perspective paths. What once used to be a blind spot in the image becomes filled with new information messages.

Network Witness

In recent years the number of schools shooting and violent out breaks within schools have continued to increase. With the change of time and new ordinentats, these violent streaks have become a platform for individuals to communicate their ideas or feelings. Electronic Monuments

It is important to focus on both the individual as well as the group in these network cultures. As we have done in class we have shifted our focus from the study of group to the of the individual. I seek to understand how the identities of each correlate as well as they how they differ amongst the network. As discussed from previous discussion, on reading taken from Electronic Monuments, how do we gain a sense of individualism in a collective monument, or group. The experiences endured amongst individuals differs however these meeting ground are site of identification. There, however, needs to be a shift to developing conscious identification, moving to something we realize. The network culture has become a platform in which individuals are able to do so. Sites such as Facebook and Twitter have become network monuments in which individual expression is brought out. We visit these “network monuments” in gaining experience and witnessing the network culture around us. It is a way to pay attention and identify with the collective. The way we interact within these monuments allows gather details and relay signifiers of cultural identity. The roots of these signifiers are shapes these contexts, and create the elements issues of the network monuments.

Exercise 3

In the growing activity in network culture, there is an overwhelming need to meet the growing satisfaction of participating in the network culture. The platforms and outlets of expression have become a means to actively engage in the media. The use of Youtube videos has become a main source for cultivating the network culture. With the capability to incorporate clips- from music, TV, movies, and the ability to upload personal videos, Youtube acts as a network platform expressing the culture of media. It is important to note how these multiple outlets work to build this network culture. Various platforms allow individuals to express knowledge in different manners. In using multiple platforms the network culture calls on different activism and points to various expressions to digitally write cultural voice. This clip in particular draws upon the element of music, Youtube video, and internet source – Chat roulette , to express the network culture. In remixing the media in this form the ideas appeals to various audience and relay various messages. Within this linear narrative various moments are connected into a series showing the transformation of the mix and how they events work together. The way in which these network components are stitched together reveal the voice of the author but the culture of the network based on the ka-knowledge. This practice of this assemblage as presented in this specific parody shows the perspective of various network identities. This expression present in the clip may differ from the perspective of viewers watching the mix. Essential though the main idea being factored is how the network culture can be mixed and presented to members.

In participating in this network culture it is important to note the changes to come about in expressing voice and displaying this ka-knowledge. How media is compiled and presented s a growing platform in order to keep up the creativity demands. Being able to remix media in new forms presents a promising outlet for including the present network culture in new times to adhere to change. Enabling moments to come together in one expression communicate amongst various messages. In the mix of this network culture I see the potential conveying in new process.

Activism

In the network connection community saturation of interest thought, knowledge and engagement has taken over internet systems. The way we choice to work amongst the saturation of these network in order to occupy the media network is work of self-interest and doing. The internet medium provides a network of connection communication amongst individuals. Individuals, however, use this create a space in which prompt these engagements to occur. In the turn for digital activism these network have become the outlet for individual involvement. The work though is how do we separate these active space in order to receive the act engagement that is sought after. The way in which individual choose to occupy these network spaces must be a creative factor in exposing the goal at hand. As a personal experience working amongst the new age activism network, drawing from multiple sources has become prominent factor in creating these connection spaces. With digital activism there can be various goals to be achieved reaching new boundaries of connection. The ability to occupy a space in this network community has become essential in individual activism. By both exposing and being exposed to these network, saturation emerges in the context of these engagements, the way the interest of these is at the site of system individuals across these connection platforms.

Apparatus Reflection

Ulmer’s Apparatus Theory depicts how separate social institution correlate into a how communication is presented and embraced. It is a matter of using resources and expression in building this communicative self. With Ulmer’s theory there are ultimately three platforms in which goals are sought after through Orality, Literacy, and Electracy. Orality acts as the self, the mode of self reflection expressed in the institution of spoken word. In a self-reflective view, Orality has planned a minimalistic role as a communicative platform in my existence. Church, tradition, worship, and ritual- for example, use this method in a relative term as a reflective basis of the institution. For me personally, this apparatus is not concrete in that my practice is rarely expressed. Orality has a minimal presence in my communicative network, however past experiences within in the church and through worship lead my conception of the importance of orality. There is a sense of method and guidelines within in this mode that constructs the social institutions and connection networks. The practice I have experienced are ultimately passed down, in means to share view. Church worships and views are shared amongst family members or friends, building a network on similar interest. In the age of internet new boundaries are being set on how these views are expressed and allowing for new connections to be sought. Ulmer expresses how these new boundaries go even further incorporated into the apparatus of Literacy. Literacy- the schooling – embraces new network connections in building thought and knowledge. There is a reason of experiment and argument. Specifically, the Literacy institution provides a platform for new communicative networks as sought through the web. Recently University classes seek to use this network to build knowledge and as test the efforts of network media. It has become routine to use sites of email and class discussion to express information and communicate thoughts. This has ultimately expanded the institution network. By doing this also Electracy comes in connection to all other apparatuses. Presented by the concept, Electracy platform entertainment in the mediated network connection. It is the natural human institution which promotes expression on the self-interest. Facebook is prime example of how the internet has come to platform entertainment and figure. Getting on to Facebook has become a ritual event for me, checking in the morning to see of any news posted to group sites or to send a message to a distant relative. The workings of this network promotes one to follow and view messages based off self-interest. In reflecting on these connection I find that the connections amongst these apparatuses creates the self institution of communication.

Modeling For Case Study

Case Study present issue and idea in a new manner to the audience. The work of providing accounts surrounding socio-political context works to lead intervention of engagement and bring awareness on account basis. With differing perspectives the way in which a case study in approached allows opens the platform to expressive lessons. Essentially the key  I see  to case study in presenting context to further growth. The challenge in doing so, comes to how present this context in order to keep one’s attention. In examining mental illness and suicide, case studies work to bridge to connection between reality and factual information in this regard. One of the most must successful ways I have seen case studies used in regards to this context, is the use of case studies present in new. In both written and viral news, case studies are used to present current issues in manner that is deemed important enough to be casted in these mediums. The New York Times, for example, works in this manner to present the stories in a perspective that gives insight on the issue at hand. I recently read an article presented by The New York Times in regards to this issue on mental illness, “After a Baby, Unraveling”, the issue presents as a story of mother on her path of mental illness but is used presents the view from new perspective. The lesson to take away from this is that campaigns can be presented in many way the act of reaching out to the audience for engagement is a goal for reaching in doing so.

Project Reflection

The network remains a vital communication connection in exposing ones’ self to to the community. Taking the time to sit down and recreates how I express myself to network media ecology stirred new perspective into the experience of my identity. Network work in a manner to connect communities through and expression and communication. How these  communities relate can be broad in the fact of individual identity within these networks. Creating a self-portrait of these expression helps to center these connection as to why I express something, who to, and what do I wish to expose in this ecology. The outside identity may differ from inner network media identities. Essentially though it constructed by exposure and communication and experiences. All work together to create an identity presented through media ecology. With the growth of network connections in the present day, it is essential to building identity in this new light. As medium of extension of the human self, there is a new way of connecting and presenting the self. How we go about using the media ecology is individual.
